Marching Falcons band again sweep competition

HALF TIME AND COMPETITION performances never disappoint when the Marching Falcons take the field. Each year, students provide entertainment with new, enhanced and exciting visuals and routines.

The school’s award winning student band, otherwise known as the Marching Falcons, entertain a variety of audiences with music, visual, special effects and sound effects, its color guard, and a variety of routines during half time at football games, as well as pep rallies and band competitions.

Furthermore, the band has won multiple awards over the years under Band Director Mike Lane and more distinctions and accolades came this past weekend in the “Drums Along the Boulevard” competition.

According to the Band Boosters Association, not only did the Marching Falcons place first in their division that included 9 of the 11 Beach high schools, but they swept their class, winning first place in Music, Effects, Visual, Percussion, Color Guard and Overall Band.

At the end of the day, the Marching Falcons also won the Creative Excellence award among all bands in the competition.

The Marching Falcons will compete again this weekend at Hickory High School where they are determined to bring home a few more first place trophies to the ‘Nest’ an look to bring home a state championship in November.

“I’m very proud of everyone, we earned it. It feels great to put in hundreds of hours of work and see it finally pay off with huge success,” senior Matt Green said.
