Boys basketball recreational team shows community spirit

A group of CHS senior students created a recreational basketball league to go against other local high school basketball teams in the community. Once a week, the group of students, known as “Team Amin,” meet at Linkhorn Elementary school to play against other teams.

“Every week, I looked forward to not only playing a game of basketball with my friends, but also seeing my family on the sidelines,” team captain Dhruv Amin said.

Even though the season took place over the course of a few weeks, the friendships they formed are lifelong and players agree that the development of the team was a great way for the community to come together and to showcase school spirit even when not physically at the school.

Senior teammates Daniel Hurley, Joe Jutton, and others, along with senior coaches Parker Jones, Jake Damron, and Kyle Schlaepfer would meet every Tuesday to practice, go over some of the more technical plays, and keep the other players positive.

“I am thankful for the leadership of Joseph Jutton throughout the season. This was one of the highlights of my senior year,” Hurley said. “All of the players showed leadership during battles on the court and we made it to theĀ  semi-finals.”

Even though Team Amin did not make it to the finals, they still will always have the memories.
