FALCON WRESTLERS CELEBRATE many of the many wins this season. Several wrestlers went on to regional and state tournaments.

What happened: Falcon wrestling recently competed in the regional tournament at the Hampton Coliseum.  Eight wrestlers placed in the tournament and earned a spot at states at Rock Bridge High School in Ashburn, VA. Four junior wrestlers went on to place in the state tournament.

Key players: Juniors Shane Whitney, Wes Schlemmer, Austin Manning, and Colin Bridges all took 1st place in their perspective weight classes at the regional tournament. Whitney went on to place 2nd at the state level, Manning placed 3rd, and Bridges placed 5th. Junior Logan Shanner also took 6th place at the tournament.

They said it: “I am very excited to have won the region championship. My coaches have pushed me hard to achieve my goals and I hope to have a successful state tournament,” Schlemmer said.

Key moment: The future looks bright for Falcon wrestlers who look to bring back the “tradition”, as freshmen Noah Calayo and Parker Tillery finished in 5th and 6th place, also at the region tournament. The team was led by primarily underclassmen at both the region and state tournaments.

Up next: The wrestling team will continue to compete at local and national tournaments during the off season. The majority of the team will return next season for competition ‘under the spotlight’ in Falcon Country.
