Varsity field hockey prepare to face off against the F.C. Patriots

As a pre-game ritual for years now, the girls varsity field hockey team lies on the turf in the shape of a wave for thirty seconds before each game to visualize what they want to accomplish that day. They then huddle up and pray to the “field hockey gods” for a successful game, followed by a “clap-it-out”, and then they cheer.

The girls currently hold a 10-0 record after a hard fought win over non-conference opponent Assumption, from Louisville, Kentucky. The Lady Falcons are now  preparing to keep their undefeated streak alive against their biggest rival, the Patriots of First Colonial High School.

Senior captain Anna Mason, who has been a member of the varsity team for the past four years, is remaining optimistic about this Thursday’s match-up with the Lady Patriots.

“This will be a tough game and our team will need to come together as one to be able to take down the Patriots and continue our undefeated record,” Mason said.

The coaching staff, as well as the team, are working endlessly to be physically and mentally prepared for Thursday’s afternoon game.

The Falcons and Patriots will face-off at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.
