The Falcons boys lacrosse team will return to the field on Wednesday, March 11, hosting Ocean Lakes in the first scrimmage of the season.
Last season ended on a difficult note for the Falcons. After a strong run, the team lost the regional championship to Kellam and then fell to Independence in the state quarterfinals, finishing the year with an 11–8 record.
The team also graduated several key seniors, including Connor Warren, Michael Collins, Christian Braithwaite, and Curtis Bartholomew. Despite those losses, the Falcons return a strong core of experienced players.
Senior leaders Barrett Glaser, Vance DeLashmutt, Tyler Core, Nolan Plunkett, Zane Perry, and Bennett Meddows are expected to play major roles this season. They will be joined by returning underclassmen, including junior Cain Beshears and sophomores Evan Harkin, Colin Manns, and Peyton Phillips.
With many returning contributors, the team hopes to build on last year’s success and reach the state tournament for the third consecutive season.
Offensively, the Falcons wish to continue the momentum they built last year. The team averaged 10.1 goals per game, providing a consistent scoring threat throughout the season.
Defensively, the Falcons were also strong, recording more than 200 saves over the course of the season. That defensive presence helped keep the team competitive in several close matchups.
As the new season begins, the Falcons are looking to regroup, develop new leaders, and make another deep postseason run. The scrimmage against Ocean Lakes will provide the first glimpse of how the team is shaping up for the year ahead.
