The Falcons defeated the Kempsville Chiefs last Friday, the Falcons’ senior night, in a hard-fought battle that ended with a final score of 31-28. After securing this final wi,n in the regular season, CHS will be the host school for the playoff game for the fourth year in a row.
As it was senior night, many of the senior players truly stood out; specifically, Zane Perry and Rex Miller, who both had receiving touchdowns.
The juniors also put on quite a show. Junior quarterback Braden Herron had a fantastic game, throwing two touchdowns and also rushing for one, while junior Tyree Jefferies finished the game with 106 rushing yards, making the win against the Chiefs the fifth game in a row he gained over 100 rushing yards. Jefferies had a huge season, wrapping up with 922 rushing yards and 11 total touchdowns.
The defense struggled early on, but senior Jacob Palmerton flipped the script with two huge second-half interceptions to gain the team’s momentum. The defensive line only allowed one touchdown in the fourth quarter and held strong when they got into the Red Zone late in the game.
This win was even more special for the senior class because it propelled them to the top; they are the first in all-time history for total wins.
“The win was monumental as it pushed us to the two seed, securing a home game in the playoffs,” Palmerton said.
The Falcons play against the Knights of Kellam in the opening round of the playoffs at home on Friday, November 14, at 7 pm. Come out and support our Falcons boys, Pack the NEST!
