Swim wins big in first meet of season

RELAY TEAM SWIMMERS compete in race. The team hopes to return their relay teams to states.

Falcon Swim defeated the Salem Sundevils last Friday in their first meet of the season. Multiple swimmers took wins in the multiple events along with a sweep in the relays. The team hopes to continue their regular season with wins and have a successful postseason. 

What happened: The Falcon Swim team competed at the Great Neck Rec Center against Salem on Friday, Dec. 6. Both boys and girls’ teams took home large victories over the Sundevils. Coach Sarah Pierce and the returning swimmers led the teams to a successful first meet.

 

 

GIRLS

Cox- 229 Salem- 81

BOYS

Cox- 210 Salem- 70

Key Players: On the boys’ side, Senior Edward Finman won the 100 breaststroke and Kaelig Michel placed first in the 200 IM. For the girls, junior Maggie Dominick took first in the 100 freestyle and junior Sam Bucklew won the 100 breaststroke.

They said it: “This season is off to a great start. We’ve had good practices, and it showed in our might against Salem,” Finman said.

Key moment(s): The relay teams swept all races over Salem to gain majority of the team’s points.

Up next: The next meet is on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Great Neck Rec Center starting at 6:45 against Ocean Lakes.
