Volleyball teams face rival FC on senior night

Both the girls and boys volleyball teams will face long-time rival First Colonial High School (FC) on the Falcon’s home court. Play begins this afternoon at 4 p.m. when the boys take the court and is followed by the girls game.

Senior volleyball players will also celebrate their final night at home as Falcons before leaving the “Nest”.

The girls team is currently ranked 2nd in the 6A conference and are led by senior captains Maddie Butkovich and Rachael Humphrey, boasting a 17-4 record.

“We are going into the game tonight confident and mentally prepared,” Humphrey said. “We have practiced strong starts and our goal is to make the least amount of errors as we possibly can.”

The boys team is currently ranked 5th in the same conference, hold a 12-6 record, and are led by senior captains Jose Benjumea and Brad Peters.

“I can’t believe that it’s already senior night and it’s surreal that I’m a senior,” Benjumea said. “We have worked so hard all year and we’re super excited for postseason play.”
