“The opportunity to be named as captain feels incredibly rewarding because it gives me a chance to lead and be the voice I wished I had during my underclassman years. This role takes on a huge responsibility because younger players look up to you, and you are the person they watch and go to when things get difficult. I love that I get to play a role in building our team culture, not just simply playing the game. The most memorable part of the Falcon basketball experience has been the bus rides to our games throughout the years. We always have hype music blasting, and everyone sings along, which builds even more team unity and creates memories that last long after the season ends. I strongly believe I have left my mark by showing what hard work looks like both on and off the court. I always try to be someone who stays positive and supports others, even during the stressful moments in games. Most of all, I hope I’ve shown the younger girls what it means to lead with dignity, not ego.
