Letters to the Editor- Quiet quitting: lazy or justified?

Dear Editor,

I disagree with quiet quitting. I have experienced this in my job from coworkers and it’s the most annoying thing ever because you end up having extra work. People need to learn that you have to work for your money. This kid at my job never did his work but would always try talking to me. This left so much extra work for me that I shouldn’t have had to do.

Dear Editor,

I agree with quiet quitting because a lot of younger people, especially since the Covid pandemic, don’t want to work. I feel as if a lot of teens are forced to work and don’t put in the effort to actually do the job. I also do think if employees were paid more, then more people would put in the effort. For example, I work at Kroger and the majority of the workers there slack off and barely do their job. They will start a task, then give up, then expect to be paid for it. I think most people just want the money, they don’t care about the job they’re doing.

Dear Editor,

I do not agree with quiet quitting. I think there are better ways to try and get things to change. If you stop doing your work then it gets pushed onto someone else, and they have to do your work on top of their own. Change needs to happen in workplaces. Workers should be valued and respected, but not working is not going to prove that workers deserve respect and change.

Dear Editor,

I agree with “quiet quitting” in the workplace because I find it a valid way to protest. I’ve also heard it called “Acting your Wage.” People shouldn’t have to overwork themselves at a job everyday, in order for me to work, to be considered valid. I see teachers everyday struggling to keep up with students and grades with no pay raise and no benefits offered. People in similar situations ( like working at a company for years and getting no pay raise or promotion) also shouldn’t have to stay late after work and come in early with no incentive.  The business world should not have coming in early and working late as a “reality.”
