SENIOR ELLIE BUFFKIN struts in her beautiful red prom dress on the CHS stage. Prom dress shopping isn’t always easy; however, many of the different styles are often admired for their elegance and variety.

Senior prom is the beginning of the end, or the beginning of a new chapter, for high school seniors. This night generally marks senior students’ last school dance and one of the last times they are all together before graduation.

The theme of this year’s prom is Masquerade Ball; so with this extravagant theme, it can be expected to see a plethora of sophisticated and elegant dresses. Some popular styles to look out for include dark colors with accents of gold and fabrics including velvets, lace, and tule.  With this year’s Masquerade Ball theme, many may opt to pair their outfits with a matching masquerade mask to amplify the mystery and glamour.

And for those who don’t want to be so “on the nose” with the theme, there are many other ways to incorporate the theme, such as wearing gloves or intricate headpieces.

For men’s prom fashion, expect to see ties and other accents, such as matching bouquets and boutonnieres that coordinate with their dates’ color schemes. Since it is common for guys to coordinate ensembles with their date, this leads to less of a “personal” style, but adds to the mystique. To make more of a statement this season,  the guys can incorporate their own personal style by wearing black suits with gold details to include  fun accessories like gold chains and watches.

Though the time is inching closer, it’s not too late to last-minute prom shop at local stores and boutiques such as: All the Rage, Windsor, Online Formals, and David’s Bridal that offer a wide variety of ready-to-wear dresses, tuxedos and accessories.
