School lunch heroes day supports student gratitude

CHS celebrated the outstanding cafeteria staff at the beginning of this month. As a tradition that began in 2013, the School Nutrition Association (SNA) has invited schools across the U.S. to commemorate their hardworking school cooks.  To properly celebrate, schools have decorated their cafeterias, had students design cards, given shoutouts on social media, and more.

There are endless ways to show your appreciation that are simple yet greatly cherished.

According to School Nutrition, SNA is a nonprofit organization that focuses on recognizing the efforts put into providing students with healthy and whole meals.  They strive to make quality nutritious food accessible to students throughout the nation.

A great deal of effort is put in when it comes to preparing student meals and the school’s devoted lunch staff endure so much to deserve the school’s celebration and respect.

Students should come to the cafeteria daily with the “tools” to show staff their respect by simply saying hello, or an easy please and/or thank you.  Manners and cleaning up after oneself is also important and goes a long way, more than students actually realize.

In the end, it is important to set a positive example by the show of gratitude and giving thanks to our school’s Lunch Heroes.
