Journalism’s Falcon Press News ‘new’ podcast thrives offering trending topics

Falcon Press News’ newest addition includes the “Bird’s Eye View”, which engages students eager to talk about the many new topics related to the school and community.

So far, podcasters have discussed music, winter fashion, food, video games, the Falcon Stage Company’s One-Act play, and Super Bowl predictions, while also giving their opinions on the topics.

“Bird’s Eye View” was developed at the beginning of this school year when Journalism II/III students, who are also the Falcon Press News Online editors, collaborated with IT Specialist Lauren Teed. Teed gave students insight about branding, topics to discuss, consistency, as well as access to the podcasting equipment used by both students and staff.  The editorial staff seemed hesitant at first, but interest has grown since then with several students eager to join in the fun.

According to Student Life Editor junior Cole Ludford, he thoroughly enjoys the podcast as he likes how it allows people outside of the school to have an idea of what’s going on inside with the students. Ludford even wants to start his podcast after participating in a few of the “Bird’s Eye View” podcasts.

Upcoming podcast topics include spring sports, March’s annual Falcon Forum week, Leadership Workshop, Ring Dance and Prom, and senior advice before graduation.
