Varsity football, back in the game
The Boys Varsity Football team starts its new season off with a record of 1-1.
After a series of unfortunate injuries in the season opener, the team was defeated by the Bayside Marlins by a score of 63-24 Seniors Matt Edwards, Eli Chusan, Zack Maurer, and junior Tayvion Robison all left the game as a result of injury, leaving their team in a bad position.
Starting kicker senior David Rhea is optimistic about the rest of the season however.
“Matt’s injury is the only severe one so it will hurt not having him. Although, I still think that we’ll do pretty well as the season continues and I believe we’ll make the playoffs again,” Rhea said.
The team bounced back last Friday though with a huge victory over Norfolk’s Granby High School. Their 42-20 victory proving that the Falcons are here to play this season.
Junior Tayvion Robinson was responsible for three touchdowns, including a 100 yard pick six.
Senior Quarterback Zach Zywna was “pumped” by the win and realizes its impact on the rest of the season and the team’s dedication.
“The win was something we really needed to get our team back on track. I’m looking forward to how we will play our next game,” Zywna said.
Come support the Falcons at their first home game on Friday, September 15, at 7 pm.
