Sliding into new season

SENIOR AUSTIN CABONE listens intently to Coach Dubois before a game.

Boys Varsity Baseball is all in this season, currently boasting a 7-1 record.

The boys also traveled  to North Carolina over Spring Break to compete in a tournament, finishing the weekend 2-1.

The team’s hot streak continues, but the players and coaches must keep focus and continue to work hard on the field. The effort and dedication they’ve put forth has been noticeable.

Senior pitcher Austin Cabone, returning from an injury, has had over 26 strikeouts in his last three starts. And, after missing most of last season due to surgery for his injury, Cabone is determined to make this season count.

“I owe a lot to Coach Kyle Dubois. He worked with me all year long to get my pitching back to where it was sophomore year and actually improved my game. He went through surgery as well, so he was able to relate to my situation and he knew what my rehab needed to be. Now that the season has started, all the hard work and practice is beginning to show because I’m probably having the best season I’ve ever had in high school,” Cabone said.

Senior Alex Hudgins and junior Jacob Hawley also missed most of last season due to injuries. It seems that this trifecta of players has surely helped this team become state champion contenders.

Come out and support the Falcons as they take on the Tallwood Lions (A) on Friday, April 21, at 4:00 PM.
