Government teacher Mrs. Jansen is currently organizing a four-day Presidential Inauguration trip to Washington D.C. from January 19-22, for any students that are interested.  The tour is sponsored by Educational Tours, a company that caters to student trips abroad.

Included in the trip is round trip transportation, hotel accommodations, overnight security, breakfast and dinner, all gratuities, guided tours and activities, illness and accident coverage, and 24 hour emergency assistance.

According to Mrs. Jansen, there are only seventeen spots still available. The signup deadline is Friday, September 30.

The 4-Day Itinerary is as follows:

Day 1: Washington, D.C.

-Arrive in Washington, D.C.

-Smithsonian museums, may include: National Portrait Gallery, National Museum of Natural History, National Museums of American History

-Evening activity

Day 2: Inauguration Day

-Inaugural day events: Oath of office, presidential inaugural address, inaugural parade

-Inaugural Ball

Day 3: Washington, D.C. ● Mount Vernon

-Mount Vernon: Mansion and grounds, museum and education center, George Washington’s tomb

-Walking tour of Chapel Hill plantation house in Berryville, VA

– Night tour of Washington, D.C.: Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Day 4: Washington, D.C. ● Return Home

-Arlington National Cemetery: Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Kennedy grave sites

-Photo stop at the Marine Corps War Memorial

– Guided sightseeing tour of Washington, D.C.: Photo stop at Washington Monument, FDR Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial, Jefferson Memorial

-Photo stop at the White House

-Depart for home
