SENIOR EDITORS KATHRYN Arntsen and Myia Campbell throw out fun ideas for winter break.

Winter break may seem long and boring if there’s nothing fun to do, but these activities can make the break one to remember.

  1. Take advantage of being off school and sleep until noon.
  2. Throw a festive party with friends; for example, a tacky sweater party of a bonfire.
  3. Take a hike, ride a bike, and work off all the food you ate. Here are some hiking trails in the area:
    a. First Landing State Park; Virginia Beach, VA
    b. Indian River Park Trail; Chesapeake, VA
    c. Windsor Castle; Smithfield, VA
    d. If you are up for a challenge, try hiking to McAfee Knob located in Catawba, Roanoke County, VA.
  4. Immerse yourself in the arts with a trip to a museum or gallery. Some museums in the area:
    a. Chrysler Museum of Art; Norfolk, VA
    b. Museum of Contemporary Art; Virginia Beach, VA
    c. Virginia Museum of fine Arts; Richmond, VA
  5. Enjoy a holiday movie. Catch one in theaters or try some of the classics.
  6. Take a day trip with friends or family.
