Career expo grants employment opportunities

Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ (VBCPS) Department of Human Resources held its annual Career Expo at Landstown High School this past Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Central office administrators and representatives from all school levels were present at the event to discuss available VBCPS positions and explain various employment opportunities such as, cafeteria staff, teacher assistants, security staff, custodians, bus drivers, and office staff.

The application and hiring process for potential employees was one of the several informational sessions offered throughout the day. Each session also included a review of the application process for anyone who was interested in applying to become a principal or assistant principal, a school substitute, as well as professional development programs and steps to becoming a licensed teacher.

“I met a lot of great candidates and a lot of good people that I think would fit in here,” Assistant Principal Carrie Pierce said. “Staffing is one of our most important jobs so its vital that we find the right people to employ.”
