Republican and Democrat presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton participated in the first of three nationally televised debates at Hofstra University in New York this week.  The next debate is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9.

While debate moderator and NBC news anchor Lester Holt did ask pertinent questions regarding American trade deals and Global Warming, he was seemingly thrown into the background during the proceedings.

Holt initially controlled questions and answers for both candidates, but seemed no match for Trump and Clinton when neither agreed on most of the issues, culminating in constant interruptions and insults regarding lack of transparency, lies, and relevant experience.

Overall, the first presidential debate served as a platform to show Americans how divided we may one day become.
