Q: Do you hope to play tennis in college? If so, what college?

A: I committed to play for The University of Mary Washington this past September! I could not be more excited!

Q: Who’s your role model and why?

A: My role model is definitely my older sister Beth. She has always pushed me to better myself and supports me in everything that I do. Beth isn’t afraid to be herself and sets a wonderful example of who I want to be when I grow up.

Q: How much time do you put in for training?

A: I usually practice every day for two hours. If I’m not on the court, I am either outside or at the gym working out trying to stay on top of my game.

Q:  What have you learned from playing on a high school varsity team?

A: Playing for the Cox High School Tennis team has been one of the best experiences of my life. Working hard every day with these girls is so fun, but also take patience. When playing an individual sport as a single unit team, it isn’t always easy to see eye to eye. I have learned cooperation and leadership as we strive towards a state title.

Q: Has there ever been a challenge you had to come across?  How did you overcome it?

A: I wouldn’t say that I have run into any “challenges.”  However, I try really hard to set a good example for my girls and make sure they are doing well, which isn’t always facile.

Q: What is your most memorable moment playing tennis?

A: During my sophomore year I played  the #1 seed and we were in the quarter finals of states as a team.  My coach told me before my match that the girl I was about to play was very good and it wasn’t going to be easy, but we really needed my point.  I split sets with her, winning in the third. Then I won doubles to clench the win for our team.  Without that point at #1, we wouldn’t have been able to make it to the next round.  So I was ecstatic to not only win the match, but to also help my team progress.

Q: What goals do you want to accomplish in tennis?

A: I would really love to become an All-American while playing at Mary Washington.

Q: Do you play other sports rather than tennis? If so, how can you compare the level of aggressiveness?

A: I haven’t played any other sport for Cox, but I have played a multitude in my day.  I always like the fast pace of tennis, so I decided to really concentrate on it and see how far my abilities would be able to take me.
