December movie review: ‘Fantastic Beasts: the Crimes of Grindelwald’

Seniors Taylor Everett and Kassidy Smith recently reviewed the movie “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” The film follows the journey of Newt Scamander and his efforts to thwart Grindelwald’s plans. The film stars Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, and Jude Law as Professor Albus Dumbledore.

Everett gave the movie a 9/10, as she found it to be a great sequel to the original Fantastic Beasts, and she found it interesting how the directors took the audience deeper into J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding world.  Everett’s only criticism to the film was the lack of action.

Smith, however, rated the movie a 2/10, explaining that the movie was lacking the amount of magic a J.K. Rowling film should have, along with the fact that the film focused more on the secondary characters as opposed to the primary characters.

Overall, both Everett and Smith found the movie to be a great addition to the Wizarding World with plenty of twists and turns along the way.
