Lady Falcons Field Hockey won their 25th state championship last weekend in a big win over their cross-town rivals First Colonial in Richmond, Virginia and the state championship game was held in Virginia Beach. However, the game has been moved all over Virginia, causing the Falcons and FC to travel to a different location to play each other when they are <2 miles down the road from each other.
The Falcons finished the season with a record of 18-4, dominating the majority of their opponents. The team has not won the state title since 2022, which was a longer stretch than usual for the Falcons. However, they still lead the state in field hockey championships.
In the state final, sophomore Campbell Wright and senior Atalee Booth contributed goals in the much anticipated 2-0 win over First Colonial. Sophomores Mikaela Quinn and Bella Glenn had beautiful assists to give Wright and Booth the opportunity to score.
“It was a team win that portrayed the grit we had all season to avenge the loss vs FC in the semis in regionals. We played for Atalee and for each other,” Terry said.
