One of the more popular spots for locals is Chick’s Beach, located off Shore Drive. The area itself is tiny, running just two miles along the shoreline. The area surrounding, however, offers anything and everything, from seaside restaurants, newly developed housing, to an active nightlife, for residents and tourists alike.
One of the most sought-after destinations, though, would be Chick’s Oyster Bar, a local favorite that offers much more than the typical dining experience. The restaurant is located on Long Creek and is accessible by land and water. During the spring and summer months, boats full of hungry passengers dock, step off their boats, and right into the restaurant.
Chick’s is known for their vibrant bar scene, complete with four different sections of seating, each with a different vibe. There are three areas for locals to sit inside or outside to enjoy their meals, as well as a “beach bar” area with sand, palm trees, and its own bar. As an added incentive, there is often live music on weekends and a surplus of activities to keep the crowd engaged. While Chick’s is definitely a local spot, anyone visiting or new to the area will find the atmosphere welcoming, laid back, and fun.
Along with the atmosphere and to appeal to all clientele, Chick’s offers a wide variety of entrees, appetizers, and seafood.
The review included seniors Rex Miller and Jacob Palmerton, who were joined by junior Hunter Tromly and sophomore Trey Miller. Senior Zane Perry also joined the group during his break as a food runner at Chicks.
While no one ordered any seafood, the restaurant is primarily known for its fresh-caught fare. Instead, the crew ordered an array of classic food, including hamburgers, wings, and chicken sandwiches. All of the food received great reviews and filled the crew’s appetite.
Dessert wasn’t an option during brunch, but Chicks has flavorful, homemade options like the rum raisin bread pudding, Chicks’ famous key lime pie, and the warm fudge brownie sundae.
Chick’s is the place to go in Virginia Beach. The ‘Vabians’ rave about the bar scene and food at Chick’s, as well as the beautiful sights on the water. Chicks is an extremely unique restaurant that is truly one of a kind.
