The Falcons continue to add to the win column, as they defeated the Salem SunDevils 10-0.
During the first quarter, the Falcon offense was intense. A 70-yard touchdown from junior Tyree Jefferies lit the spark that propelled the Falcons. The talented running back had 23 carries with 153 yards in the game, making this his third straight game with over 100 rushing yards.
Along with Jeffries, sophomore Grady Swango kept punishing the SunDevil defense. Swango had two rushes with 84 total yards.
The defense was flawless, with ten total tackles for loss, which tied a season tackle record for the Falcons. Senior Jiwan Mack was all over the field and had the most total tackles, 11 for the Falcons, and a sack.
Senior Barrett Glaser also had a standout game in his new role on defense. Glaser’s usual position is cornerback; however, he was placed at safety, racking up nine tackles and two pass breakups.
Senior captain Jacob Palmerton is more than satisfied with the win, leading a team that has not only broken records in his final season, but also about what’s to come over the next few weeks.
“After that big win, we’re in full stride and have a lot of momentum as the playoffs are in sight,” Palmerton said.
Come and pack the nest as the Falcons take on the Cavaliers of Princess Anne on Thursday, October 30, at 6:30 pm at home.
