The Falcons varsity football team bounced back after a tough loss to the Marlins of Bayside High School last week. The Falcons dominated the First Colonial Patriots on Friday, boosting their team record to 2-1 so far this season.
The offense immediately showed its bigger, faster, stronger strength training, scoring 48 points overall. Junior quarterback Braden Herron led the team with both a rushing and a passing touchdown.
Junior Elijah Burton skillfully brought down Herron’s pass, then drove to the endzone. Senior Jiwan Mack and junior Tyree Jefferies both boasted rushing touchdowns.
The Falcons led the Patriots to final defeat when, at the end of the game, senior MJ Lemke charged the field, throwing another touchdown pass to junior Alex Neff.
Falcons’ defense was productive as well, holding the Patriots to only seven points. Sophomore Marc Watkins earned the Falcons’ first sack of the season, and freshman J.D. Graham recovered an unfortunate Patriot fumble, then continued to lead the defense in tackles.
Senior wide receiver Zane Perry expressed his admiration for the team and their well-deserved win.
“The boys played well, and we were proud of our team. We are looking forward to our next match-up against the Stallions of Green Run. So far, we’re shocking the beach.”
