As the spring sports season winds down, the boys and girls tennis teams began their seasons with scorching hot starts, as both teams compiled four wins and zero losses. The boy’s team is led by junior captain Sam Dixon, seniors Lucca Gandolfo, Kris Katabian, Joseph Park, and junior Matt Baan.
The girls’ team, led by senior captains Maya Katherman, Ashtyn Ricks, Alex Gen, and junior standout Ava Rassool, has a record of 7-1.
Both Falcon teams have had relatively easy schedules, earning blowout wins over four Beach District teams, including Landstown, Bayside, Green Run, and First Colonial High Schools. The boys recently dropped a match to Kellam on Wednesday by a score of 5-4, while the girls have only dropped one match to Ocean Lakes earlier this week.
According to the boy’s tennis players. at the helm this year for the boys team is second-year head coach Rich Ingram, who brings a different kind of energy and vibe to the team that could lead them to the promised land.
“Coach Ingram has made our team feel more cohesive by making an effort to strengthen our team’s camaraderie. This is no easy task since tennis isn’t primarily a team sport and this year’s team feels more together than ever before,” senior Kris Katabian said.
For the girls, veteran Head Coach Beth Absher is ready to lead the Lady Falcons to a region title and state championship.
