The baseball team is off to a scorching hot start, boasting a 9-0 record thus far, nearly dominating every team they have played. The boys started their season by beating three of the top 25 teams in the state and then a Top 5 team from Illinois.
According to 757Teams, these wins pushed the Falcons into first place in the 757, and MaxPreps projected CHS as the #2 team in the state per Prep Baseball Report. The Falcons attribute most of their success to senior leadership and the support from younger players. The boys recently returned from their annual spring break trip; this year, they went to Alabama.
The boys dedicate most of their second-half success to the work done during the journey; these trips provide team bonding, which makes each player better.
Senior Brendan White has been invited on all four spring break trips and believes that these trips are just one of the defining moments each season. He has been locked down defensively at second base while posting an incredible on-base percentage.
“The season is going well; we’re winning games and having fun together. It’s nice to see a well-working machine for my last year,” White said.
The boys’ schedule doesn’t get much easier as they still play Cape Henry on Friday, April 25, and in the weeks following, the number two-ranked team in the 757 and the eighth-ranked team in the state, Greenbrier Christian. The Falcons also face the Patriots from First Colonial again on Tuesday, May 6.
