The CHS baseball team is one of the most successful teams in Virginia, with three state championships, two of which came in 2021 and 2023. The school’s varsity baseball team has always produced talent, with 22 alumni currently playing at the next level, 18 playing collegiately, and four playing professional baseball.
Over the years, the Falcons baseball team has shown they are willing to work harder and more intelligently than the rest of the competition. Overall, 13 Falcon alumni have gone on and, at some point, played professional baseball. In retrospect, this is more than all the high schools in the area and maybe even some colleges. The two most recent alumni who are moving on to professional play are Fenwick Trimble who played at James Madison University and Ethan Anderson who played at the University of Virginia.
Head Coach Matt Ittner has not only contributed to the success of the program, but works with players year-round not only on the field but off the field as well, keeping each student-athlete accountable both in and out of school.
“The success of Cox Baseball is based on the strength of our program’s past, present, and future. We honor the past by recognizing their accomplishments, we work day in and day out to leave the program better than they found it, and we inspire future generations to take our program to new heights,” Ittner said.
