LEAD/INTRO: The boys volleyball team has started off the season strong with a 6-3 record with an old, but newly returned head coach, Jason Zuidema. Zuidema is well-known throughout the area as both a standout former player and coach. He is also a CHS alumnus, known for bringing out the best in his players with his strict and passionate coaching style.
WHAT HAPPENED: The Falcons have had a competitive season so far, having won a few key games where they proved to their competitors that the team is a force to be reckoned with. Despite suffering a tough loss to First Colonial High School early in the season, where they went five long sets. The boys came back to beat Ocean Lakes High School two weeks later in five sets without their starting right-side hitter and senior Brady Spicer. The Falcons plan to build up their momentum with a win against Kempsville this week.
KEY Players: Seniors Zach Hamilton and Cole Ludford, along with junior Zane Helps have been an essential part of the team’s success and have proven themselves to be the team leaders.
THEY SAID IT: “Rankings don’t matter, results do,” Ludford said.
