Seniors Blake Heselius, Max Palmerton, Christian Braithwaite, and Hayden German took their newest food review down to the Oceanfront where they found Pelon’s Baja Grill. Pelon’s is a Mexican joint, however not just any ordinary Mexican place as it has a beach vibe and atmosphere.
Upon entering the restaurant, food is ordered up front and is generally received within five minutes of ordering. Quick service is always a bonus for teens after a long day of school. Pelon’s has three restaurants spread across the “757”, however, the one at the Oceanfront is the true original.
The four began their meal with a common appetizer, Mexican-style chips and guacamole. The group all agreed that the guacamole was salty, fresh, and mouth-watering; however, the chips were a bit stale which knocked the overall rating down. Palmerton gave the lowest rating, a 6/10, while the other three decided to award the dish a 7- 7.5/10.
After the appetizer, they decided to split several different dishes. The four indulged in an assortment of food that included: a burrito, tacos, a quesadilla, and a taco salad. Palmerton, who had the burrito, was very pleased with the taste of the carne asada but his only knock was the overload of refried beans. The tacos came out picture-perfect as if they could be on the cover of a food magazine.
Braithwaite loved the fish and the slight kick that the tacos had to pack a powerful punch of flavor. With the variety of food items, it allowed the crew to produce a widespread review. German received the carne asada quesadilla, he could not have been happier with his order, as it was a “way above average carne asada quesadilla,” according to German.
Lastly, Heselius ordered the taco salad, which was not his usual order but definitely one he would add to his ‘favorites’ list. The mix of steak, beans, lettuce, and all the other ingredients was like a savory treat with that brought a warm feeling.
In the midst of trying the flavorful food, the crew was simply in a good mood as the vibe of Pelons is truly unmatchable. The versatility of the restaurant entices those who visit to come back as they have lots of large TVs, big tables with lots of space, and a bar for the older crowd. With the beach theme and the Mexican food, Pelons is the place to go if you’re looking for a quick and fantastic meal.
Overall, the four reviewers loved their meals and would 100 percent recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a good Mexican meal. The vibe and food mix-matched perfectly and can expect to enter in a exuberant mood once you walk in and smell the food cooking from the kitchen. They were able to give out their official ratings after they were finished eating, the ratings were all similar ranging from 7-8.3, with three ratings reaching level eight out of ten.
