The boys are back.
Seniors Blake Heselius and Maxwell Palmerton plan to take their food reviews to another level, with the addition of senior Christian Braithwaite and junior Jacob Palmerton. The four look to demolish food and supply viewers quality reviews as well as insight into local restaurants and the most popular spots around the area.
To kick off their first outing together, Heselius, Braithwaite, and Palmerton and ten of their closest friends hit what could be deemed the best hibachi place in town, Shogun. Hibachi restaurants generally aim to please, making their customers feel at home. The food is cooked in front of the customers while the chef performs for the “audience”.
Hibachi Restaurants are well known for their entertainment and filling food. Often when people go to Hibachi they will see large parties or couples going to enjoy an eventful night out while also enjoying all the “spice” the restaurant has to offer.
Once the “Teppanyaki” chefs approach the patrons and begin introductions, they then pour all the food that has been ordered onto the hot flat-top skillet and use Hibachi Spatulas to cook right in front of customers. To get the entertainment started they usually create a massive ball of fire that lights up the room, or they will make a volcano of onions to ignite the flame.
During their dinner, the trio indulged in an assortment of salad, soup, rice, shrimp, and chicken. All thoroughly enjoyed the salad due to the unique tasting dressing on top. For the rice, the biggest hit of the restaurant, the trio poured the famous “Yum-Yum” sauce on top of their rice to enrich the flavor. The sauce comes highly recommended and is a staple of Shogun’s menu.
Finally, the shrimp, were used not only as a source of nourishment but as a source of entertainment. Often the chef will play “games” with his guests, using his spatula in an attempt to toss shrimp into everyone’s mouth. The energy and creativity each chef brings to the table brings a different, more interactive food experience that most restaurants cannot top.
Overall, the entire experience is great for a special occasion due to the laid back “vibe”. The trio rated the entire experience a 9/10 which is high according to their rigorous scale.
In order to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, they recommend that parties arrive at the restaurant on time as they run on a tight time table. In addition, be prepared to spend some money as the outing can be a bit pricy when paying for multiple people.
Other than that, prepare for a fun filled experience that will leave you with more than enough food so expect leftovers.
