Falcon varsity baseball implements Mission 22, looking for next state championship.

Mission 22 is this year’s focal point for last year’s state championship Falcon baseball team. Each year Head Coach Ittner develops, along with other coaches and players, a motto or goal for the team to pursue. Mission 22’s overall goal is to not only win through the region tournament but to get back into the state tournament.

According to Ittner, each game is equally as important meaning that every win gets us closer to our goal.

Also at the beginning of each season, the team holds a “First Pitch Dinner” that celebrates the birth of a new goal. The event that coaches, players, and parents attend include a banquet, a motivational speaker, a hype video, and the introduction of a new goal.

The baseball team is looking to defend their state championship as they stand 7-4 second in the 5a region. With only two returning starters the team believed that proving themselves was key, and as they approach the backstretch of the season their outcome looks promising.

Leading the team are seniors Thomas White, Brady Kenter, Dylan Blazer, Ben Adams, and Ty Kraly along with some standout underclassmen such as sophomores Jake Colucci and Austin Irby, and juniorsĀ  Joe Munitz and Riley DeCandido.

“Just past the halfway point in the season falling short in the game vs long-time rivals, the Patriots of First Colonial (FC), has solidified the team’s bond and has only brought us closer, allowing the team to play better together,” Blazer said.

The school’s defending state champs once again take on FC at home on Thursday, April 28.
