Outdoor track starting off strong
During the second meet of the season, the Falcon’s girls and boys outdoor track teams came out strong against the Lions of Tallwood High School (THS) where they also competed against the Patriots of First Colonial (FCHS), the Knights of Kellam (KHS), the Stallions of Green Run (GRHS) and the SunDevils of Salem (SHS) High Schools. Both the Falcon girl’s and guy’s teams had several top three finishes to contribute to the overall score of the meet.
In one of the first girl’s events of the evening sophomore Salya Brown took first place in the girls 800 meter run. The win was just what the Falcons needed to get the meet started.
The boys 4 x 800 team captured 2nd place in the first relay race of the evening, just missing THS by 16 seconds. Junior Tyler Dalton finished the the relay off strong to give the team an impressive 9:05 finishing time.
Senior R.J. Jeffries competed in three events and took first place in the long jump, boys triple jump, and managed to get 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles.
Despite missing last week’s meet, senior Mike Rodgerson finished 3rd overall in the boys 800 meter run and earned an impressive 2:09.
“It was really humid and windy out but we all managed to push through it and ended up even getting several placements and some personal bests from our team,” Dalton said.
The Falcons boys and girls track team will be competing at Landstown High School next week with the opening event starting at 3:45 p.m.
