Cross Country places in regional and state meets

What Happened: Falcon Cross Country competed in the 5A Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Bells Mill Park in Chesapeake. The girls’ team finished 2nd in the region and the boys finished 3rd. Both teams advanced to the State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Great Meadows course in Northern Virginia. The girls placed 9th in the state and CHS had three runners place in the top 50.

Key Players: Freshmen Salya Brown, Bella Clark, and Carsen Johnston finished in the Top 15 with All-Region Honors for the girls team. Sophomore Tyler Dalton, Senior Colby Chamberlain, and Junior Jacob Wall finished in the Top 30 as a unit as well for the boys. 

They Said It: “Both teams have carried an underdog mentality throughout the season. We are proud of our placements in regionals and states,” said senior Colby Chamberlain. 

Key Moment: At the end of the regional meet, the girls team hoisted up the region runner up trophy. Both teams were pumped to earn a spot in the State Meet. 

Up Next: Both teams have finished the season and will celebrate their success during the Fall Sports Banquet on Wednesday Nov. 20 at 6 pm in the cafeteria.
