March movie review: Captain Marvel

Senior Taylor Everett and Junior Eric Michals recently watched Captain Marvel, the newest addition to the Marvel Comic Universe.

Actress Brie Larson plays US Air Force Pilot Carol Danvers who constantly has recurring memories of another life on Earth. Danvers morphs into Captain Marvel and is depicted as an extraterrestrial “Kree” on her journey to become one of the most powerful heroes the universe has ever seen.

According to movies.disney.com, Captain Marvel becomes caught in the middle of a war between two alien races; she has to harness her true power to defeat them and uncover the secrets of her past.  The film stars well-known actors Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Jude Law as Yon-Rogg.

Everett rated the movie a superb 10/10 finding the visual effects to be absolutely stunning and found the story-line to be empowering to women, with a few crazy twists along the way.

Michals awarded the movie a 9/10, as he found the chemistry between the star-studded cast to capture the true essence of this strong female superhero. His only criticism was in the fact that the plot was a bit confusing and hard to identify who the protagonists and antagonists of the film were.

Overall, both Everett and Michals found this film to be a perfect addition to the Marvel Universe and a “must-see” for any superhero fans, or people looking for a crazy adventure-themed movie.
