Advanced Placement (AP) Comparative Government teacher Darlyn Janson tasked students with a ‘tasty’ assignment this week in order to help them understand different government structures.

AP student were given gummy bears, along with other items such as marshmallows, legos, and toothpicks to create and illustrate six different governments including:  Communism, Fascism, a Theocracy, Democracy, a federal republic, and a Constitutional Monarchy.

The assignment not only gave students the opportunity to get creative, but to actually eat their supplies.

“I thought this activity was a great way to introduce this section of the curriculum in a more creative and interactive, student-driven manner,” Janson said.
