The Elite 8 was a perfect example of why they add madness to the end of March Madness.

South Carolina came up with another upset defeating Florida to advance to the Final Four for the first time in school history. Gonzaga with their dominant offense knock out Xavier by a hefty margin to also advance. Oregon was the victor as they played 1st seeded Kansas who seemed to have an off night. The game that most of the country tuned into to see was North Carolina versus Kentucky. Kentucky’s multiple last minute threes allowed them to tie the game up with just seconds left in the game. With the ball in North Carolina’s hands, Luke Maye was able to hit a game winning deep two pointer to send them to the Final Four.

The match-ups for the Final Four are South Carolina against Gonzaga and Oregon against North Carolina.

South Carolina’s fairy tale run finally came to an end as Gonzaga defeated them 77-73. Gonzaga’s big men combined for 27 points and helped protect the rim which contributed to the teams win. In a close game, University of North Carolina clinched a spot in the finals. They were able to beat Oregon 77-76 with a huge performance by Kennedy Meeks for UNC. Recording a triple double with 25 points and a career high 14 rebounds.

Gonzaga and North Carolina will match up on Monday, April 3 at 9:20 p.m. The game will take place in Phoenix, Arizona and will broadcast across the country.

After falling to Villanova in the National Championship last year, North Carolina came into the 2017 tournament determined to redeem themselves. That’s exactly what they did.

The University of North Carolina defeated Gonzaga by a a score of 71-65 to bring home the National Championship trophy. The game was tightly called as many players got into major foul trouble early disrupting the flow of the game and the offense each team wanted to run. In the end, Joel Berry’s 22 points helped the team finish something they failed to do last year.
