Splashing their way to victory
Each swimmer takes their position on top of the board. Looking out at their lane, they stand ready to hit the water at full speed and without looking back.
The Falcons boys and girls swim teams dominated their first meets of the season last week against the Cavaliers of Princess Anne High School (PA). The boys thrashed the Cavaliers, winning with a score of 217-92. The girls won in similar fashion, beating PA 200-93.
Junior Dan Bannon led the charge for the boys team, finishing first in the 200 and 400 meter freestyles.
“I’m going to keep working hard in practice, jumping in the pool, and winning meets,” Bannon said.
Several swimmers from the girls’ team also experienced similar success in their meet. Junior Tara Laruso won the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Teammate Abby Fick came out on top in the 200 and 400 freestyle while Natalie Finman finished first in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.
Returner junior Anna Michaud won the 50-meter freestyle and 100 breaststroke and was complimentary to the team’s underclassman and new swimmers for their recent success.
“We have a lot of young talent across the board and their hard work and dedication to the team will help keep us at the top,” Michaud said.
Both teams looks to keep the momentum going and take their shot at the Beach District Championship in Febraury.
