Girls Tennis, #1 player – Sarah Whited
Q: Do you feel pressure as the #1 player?
A: “Yes, it’s tough playing #1 for a school that has been good for so many years. You want to do well for your school and for yourself.”
Q: Are you and the #2 player, Olivia McNulty, competitive with one another?
A: “I think we are competitive on the court, but we try to stay friendly off the court.”
Q: How hard do you have to work to maintain your spot?
A: “I go to high school practice for an hour and a half then another practice for two to three hours. It is tough to balance both practices because I have to keep up my momentum.”

Q: How often do you challenge the top player?
A: “As often as I can. Usually every other week if another player isn’t challenging me. I do it just to challenge myself and see what I need to work on when I play against better players.”
Q: When you play against Sarah, how close are the matches?
A: “They’re usually competitive. It just varies based on how well we play in certain conditions, like if it’s really hot or windy or something like that, or just how well we are playing that day.”
Q: Does the #3 player challenge you? Are you both at basically the same level or can you beat her pretty easily?
A: “So far she has only challenged me once because I’ve been trying to challenge Sarah and we haven’t had a chance to play yet. When she does challenge me, our matches are always really competitive, so its great practice for both of us.”
