Athlete of the month: Landon LoAlbo

Q &A with senior wrestler Landon LoAlbo:

Q:  What weight are you wrestling this year and is it different than last year, if so why did you change weight classes?

A:  I am wrestling at 120 pounds this year.  I gained some weight and grew a little and that’s why I changed weight classes.

 

Q:   Do you think this season will be an improvement over last season? Why?

A: Yes we have a good, young team and I am getting more practice in every day.

 

Q: How do you act as a role model for the younger wrestlers?

A:  I work harder in practice and listen to the coaches’ advice.

 

Q:  Do you have certain rituals you follow to get ready for a match?

A:  I always warm up the same way and high five each of my coaches’ before every match starts.

 

Q:  What is your routine for cutting weight and how much do you have to cut?

A:  My routine is to set my diet, so that I eat healthy food with low calories and cut weight from five to ten pounds.

 

Q: Do you have any plans to wrestle after high school?

A: Yes, I plan to wrestle in college.

 

Q:  How are you preparing for the season?

A: I practice very hard and wrestling in a lot of tournaments before post season.

 

Q:  Who are your toughest competitors this season?

A:  I view everyone as a tough competitor.

 

Q:  What are some tournaments your team has attended and has the team placed?

A: So far we have only been to the Hopewell classic and the team placed top five.  We plan on going to many more tournaments this year.

 

Q:  What age were you when you began wrestling and what made you want to participate in the sport?

A: I started in sixth grade and my P.E. teacher who was the wrestling coach asked me to wrestle and I have been ever since.
