SENIORS CHRIS TAYLOR and Deairra Harrington participated in the African-American History Month celebration.

Faculty, staff, and students packed the auditorium recently for a celebration of Black History. The assembly consisted of a timeline of historical moments showcasing the evolution of African-American pioneers and their contributions to the history of our nation.

The band gave tribute to the legendary Duke Ellington, followed by various musical performances from talented faculty members.

One student performed a dance routine to the song ‘Heartburn,’ by Alicia Keys.

The assembly concluded with a Falcon Theater performance entitled ‘Dash’ that combined personal experiences with notable members of the African-American community in effort to inspire students to devote their lives to causes close to their heart.

“The goal was to inspire people to find something they’re passionate about and then try to further the same sort of changes in society that these people made,” theater student Fletcher Travelstead said.
