How-to: spend the holidays
Winter break may seem long and boring if there’s nothing fun to do, but these activities can make the break one to remember.
- Take advantage of being off school and sleep until noon.
- Throw a festive party with friends; for example, a tacky sweater party of a bonfire.
- Take a hike, ride a bike, and work off all the food you ate. Here are some hiking trails in the area:
a. First Landing State Park; Virginia Beach, VA
b. Indian River Park Trail; Chesapeake, VA
c. Windsor Castle; Smithfield, VA
d. If you are up for a challenge, try hiking to McAfee Knob located in Catawba, Roanoke County, VA. - Immerse yourself in the arts with a trip to a museum or gallery. Some museums in the area:
a. Chrysler Museum of Art; Norfolk, VA
b. Museum of Contemporary Art; Virginia Beach, VA
c. Virginia Museum of fine Arts; Richmond, VA - Enjoy a holiday movie. Catch one in theaters or try some of the classics.
- Take a day trip with friends or family.
