STUDENTS CONVENE TO discuss the year’s agenda.

Another school year brings another group of students to the Superintendent’s Advisory Council.

Students from all grades and schools throughout the Beach District came together on Nov. 11 to discuss the year’s agenda. The plan for this year is to branch off last year’s three main topics, two of which include student involvement and teacher student relationships.

“I had so much fun last year and I can’t wait to work with my group from last year to implement changes in student involvement. We made a lot of progress last year and we hope to introduce the new program this year,” Bayside High School senior Shaina Moondra said.

The new members this year will work on improving the way that student’s view the school, including an increased focus on graduating students and preparing them for either secondary education or the workforce.

“My idea was to create a program to help seniors with college applications. I know how stressful the process was for me and I hope to prevent the future seniors from going into it as blindly as I did,”  Green Run High School senior Kuron Connor said.

Both the old and the new students will meet each month until June, when they will present their ideas to the school board as they did last year.

“I have a great feeling about this year, we already know what to do so all we have to do now is perfect everything so we can make real change,” Moondra said.
