JUNIOR GABI GOODOVE reschedules classes for next year.

In March, the administration announced that certain English electives previously offered to students including Cinema Studies, Media Studies, College Bound Reading, and Advanced Composition will no longer be available to students in the upcoming school year.

Only one section of Public Speaking will be open, while other English electives, such as Journalism, are completely full already.

Head Guidance Counselor Rob Marlin, is currently implementing changes in the schedules. Because of the current operating budget and review of the teacher-student ratio, more teachers were needed to teach English classes than teach electives.

“There was no way to avoid eliminating classes without either combining classes, allocate more towards English than other departments, or cut other electives. Neither choice is great, but ultimately funding is the issue,” Marlin said.
