Calling all ping pong players
Junior Brad Creamer joined with Sponsor Jason Zuidema to create the school’s first Ping Pong Club. Still in the establishing stage, the Ping Pong Club officers are working hard to hammer out the details.
Ken Lees, Ping Pong for Charity President, reached out to Zuidema in order to create this Ping Pong Club. The organization was already started at Kellam High School and Kemps Landing Magnet School and he wanted to include the school because of Zuidema and Creamer’s involvement with the Boys’ Volleyball team participation in Ping Pong for Charity last fall.
Senior Amanda Hall is the current Publicity Coordinator/Historian of the club.
“We are trying to raise awareness and money while having a good time,” Hall said.
The club is looking for anyone interested in strengthening their brain, mental health, and, of course, playing ping pong. For those who are dedicated to the club, there will be practices once a week, most likely meeting in the hallways of the school.
According to Hall, anyone can join, but there will A and B teams based on skill. They are also going to be participating in tournaments and charity events.
No specific dates can be told as of yet, since the club is still being established. There will however, be a kick-off celebration hosted by the Ping Pong for Charity Foundation and Monarch Bank, which is donating three tables as soon as it is complete.
Senior Christine McDermott is the current club treasurer.
“We are very excited about being involved with this club and foundation, and we can’t wait to get started,” McDermott said.
