Teacher of the month
After spending his own high school years at the school, dedicated World History teacher David Hahn decided he loved Falcon Country so much that he’d come back to teach. Hahn has been an educator at the school for 15 years and does not plan on giving it up anytime soon. Widely respected by his students and coworkers, Hahn is known for his diligent work and caring personality.
Hahn worked for the education department at the Marine Science Museum, which greatly inspired him to become an educator.
“Teaching young people today gives me a fresh insight into the world from a different perspective, and I seem to learn something new from them every day,” Hahn said.
But, Hahn doesn’t just enjoy the company of his students; his fellow educators help him love what he does as well. They treat him with love, care and support, as does he in return.
“Mr. Hahn is a teacher that the students find easy to talk to, he is down to earth. He expects a lot, but is willing to give a lot so that his students are successful. The students always seem to know what to expect. There are no surprises,” Advanced Placement Geography teacher Bernard Belan said.
Not only does Hahn fill his students’ brains with new knowledge and information every day, he believes they teach him new things too. And, although he may give them a hard time, he loves them and they love him back.
“I learned a lot from Mr. Hahn last year and actually enjoyed history for the first time. Not only did he always know how to make us laugh, he had a way of making the class fun,” sophomore Stephanie Snyder said.
