Falcon Press: what we do
New Falcon Press address www.falconpressnews.org
Over the past five years, the school’s Falcon Press newspaper has evolved from a publication printed four or five times during the school year to an online phenomenon. Furthermore, the Journalism program itself, which five years ago began with twelve students and a staff of five, is currently comprised of two classes, almost 50 students, and a staff of 19.
Students in Journalism I, II, III classes write, edit, produce, and create a final product that, since the 2013-1014 school year, is fully online. Hard work, dedication, and countless hours go into the program to produce the final product, which is constantly updated and revised.
The Falcon Press is hosted by third party site Scholastic New Online and is funded solely on ad sales Journalism students obtain throughout the surrounding community.
Falcon Press has entered the digital age, not only through it’s website falconpressnews.org, but through Instagram and Twitter @falconpressnews. And, as digital/social media continues to constantly evolve, so will the school’s news.
