Anyone looking to join a new club that is not only interesting and fun, but also looks great on a college resume may want to check out LiveStrong. And, because October is “pink” already, now is the perfect time to begin the endeavor.
Livestrong is a new and upcoming club created by two sophomores, Casey Babington and Whitney Robbins. The two decided to organize this club in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer among students in the school.
The club’s main focus is to get people involved and for them to understand just how ugly the disease can be if not caught in time. So far, Livestrong organizers have been hosting spirit days and other events to gain membership and enable action through this club.
LiveStrong Club hosts meetings every month in room 132 to review its plan of action. In these meetings, members discuss ways to get involved and help spread awareness.
Members initially developed and implemented the idea to get everybody to wear a pink shirt on Tuesday, October 14. This was to show people that they are a united group who really do believe in this cause.
Anyone interested in joining the LiveStrong club can do so in one of the following ways. Students can join the REMIND101 group by texting @2949fa to 81010. Students are also always welcome to the next meeting in room 132 or talk to one of the club presidents, Casey Babington or Whitney Robbins.
The next event LiveStrong members plan to attend is the annual Boo Bash Trunk-or-Treat that will take place on Wednesday, October 29, in the junior lot at 5:30.
