Scratch is a non-profit food truck organization that travels around VBCPS feeding the masses. As of late, they have been to seven different VBCP schools and plan to expand the business to all schools in the district.
Scratch began visiting Kempsville High School (KHS) in 2022; our new principal, Mrs. George, already had a rapport with the company, which led them to CHS this year.
The food truck is truly one of a kind, and is the only Public School-run truck in the country that serves a different menu than what is provided for lunch. Even though alternative food is served, all of the money made will go back to the school.
The atmosphere surrounding the truck is amazing and has a totally different vibe than a traditional high school cafeteria. Along with the food, cornhole, and other games are available, allowing students to hang around with their friends and enjoy the beautiful weather.
“It brings me a lot of joy serving kids delicious food that they would not normally be able to eat,” Head Manager Thomas Mangura said.
Make sure to check out “Scratch” when it returns to Falcon Country on October 30.
