CHS alumnus and World History teacher David Hahn has officially entered retirement. With 28 years of teaching under his belt, 25 years of them as a Falcon, he has endless memories and much more for which to be grateful.
He started teaching in January of 1999 at Oakton High School in Fairfax County, where he taught World History I and Journalism. Then, in August of 1999, he returned to his alma mater, CHS, and expanded his subject knowledge to US Government, Personal Finance and Economics, and Sociology.
There is a long list of things that he will miss from his teaching career, starting with the numerous students who look up to him as a father figure.
“I will miss the students and colleagues, people I have worked with the most. There is a great family environment. My favorite things are probably seeing my students when they are older. Also, when they have children and stuff like that,” Hahn said.
Although the majority of his distinctions come from teaching, he has also been the Varsity Girls Field Hockey team’s business manager for nine years. Over the years, the girls have considered him a “Team Dad” and go to him for advice all the time.
Hahn plans to continue with the team, although he is leaving the classroom.
“Mr. Hahn is a very selfless and kind person, and he’s always there to help us with what we need,” junior captain Bella Terry said.
